10. Real Presentations

Today we did our "real" presentation. I thought it won't be any different from the old one, but grading makes it different. When you have the fear of getting low mark you start to think differently. I thought it went pretty well, although people said it was a little long, irony huh =). Our topic was pretty good too. I enjoyed doing a reasearch about it. I'm not saying the event is joyful, but the gender issue is being argued a lot these days.

9. Full Monty

These guys are not actually the actors of the film The Full Monty, but they went full monty too so it is a related picture. I haven't read the writings though, forget the writings. Think about them as 5 regular guys taking a picture while they are naked. I wonder why they took the picture. It must be some kind of an advertisement. Yep, now I'm sure it's an advertisement.
5 regular guys stripping is not the topic of the film. It was the only solution for them, they were obliged to do it. They oppose the society and stand strong in front of it. In the end they don't care what the society things, and dance proudly at the que.

8. The Ultimate Reality Show

The Truman Show is telling a story of a regular person who is being watched by all the people around the world. But the real thing is, he has no idea about it. His whole life is a made up story. His only purpose in life is to be a part of the show. He has no opportunity to change his faith, which is decided by the god of the set, director of the show.
The life in the set isperfect, no conflicts, no lack of money, no wars. It can be said that it is better to live there than outside. But doesn't he have the right to choice where he wants to live? Is it okay to force him stay in the set just because you adopt him? No, every person should have the ability to change his life. You can change your faith, just like Truman did...

7. Boys Don't Cry - Cure

The central issue discussed in this movie is sexual intolerance. Teena hides his biological identity by disguising as a tough man. In parallel to Tough Guise, in order to be accepted by society, he overacts his role, the most obvious example of which is his trying to get into fights all the time. Setting is also very important. The film takes place in Falls City, Nebraska which is a very conservative state.
Even though, Brandon is not biologically a man, he gets more girls than me. That shows that women are more attracted to more sensitive guys. If being sensitive makes one more desirable for women, why do all men put this though guy "suit" on?

6. Killing us softly

I was thinking about the title, and what it meant but I couldn't have figured out what it meant, till now. In my opinion she was trying to say that the advertisements are slowing the degree of women slowly, day by day. Well, It isn't hard to realize that, and I don't know why I haven't realized it while watching. First of all, Jean Kilbourne is a great presenter =). Her jokes made me laugh a lot, especially switching sides of men and women in advertisements - too giggly, to flat -. Yes, Women are absolutely right about being offended about those advertisements. I know I would be offended. Secondly, like in every place in advertisement women are marked. All the women in advertisements is perfect in every way, in a way that no women can be without any working up. And finally, women are shown as an object in the advertisements, not a subject. So all in all, the advertisements has to be changed completely. Everyone should pretest these kind of advertisements.

5. Presentations!!

As you know 2 days ago we did our presentation and to be honest I was a little nervous about whether the presentation would be succesful or not because the presentations that were before us were both extremely detailed and covered all points. I could say I learned a lot from them, not only the things that are told in the presentation, but also learned how to ımprove my presentation. Feedbacks also would help a lot to our final presentation ofcourse. I want to share what I've learned with this practise presentation:
1. Your group needs to be well organised and you need some kind of a division of labour.
2. You need to do a detailed research about the things you are going to mention in presentation.
3. You need to study what you are going to say in the presentation, not memorizing but keeping some keywords in your mind is an extra in fluent talking, which is good for presenting. =)
4. You and your partners have to know all the things are mentioned in presentation, not only your part.
5. Giving some examples from daily life helps the oudience to be more focused.
6. Joke is a great plus in presentation.
Well, these are only my opinions =) If you could add more suggestions they can help a lot.
